Our Service History

The Ellicott City Rotary Club was the first Rotary Club in Howard County, MD. The club chartered on April 19, 1928. The Baltimore Rotary Club, assisted by the Annapolis Club sponsored the club. Today we take pride in our long history of service to our community and the world.

History of THE Ellicott City Rotary Club Service Projects

THE Ellicott City Rotary Club has supported Howard County in a holistic and comprehensive way by supporting programs that benefit our  environment, help our homeless, feed our hungry, and educate our youth.  The Club has also been involved in international projects.

Supporting Howard and Baltimore County:

Tree planting and garden clean up: Beautiful Belmont Manor  

Partnering with the Pignon Rotary Club  

Serving meals: Grassroots  

Collecting debris:  Adopt a Road:  Ridge Road, Ellicott City

Rotary Head Start Regulars:  Supporting Early Education: CAC


Founded first Boy Scout Troop in Ellicott City, Dictionary Project for 3rd graders, Howard County Bumble Bee Contest, Howard Community College Education Foundation since 1960,  College Scholarship Fund,  Sunrise Ellicott City Rotary Community Service Project,  Rotary Four Way Test Awards, Boy scouts and Girl scouts of Howard County, Sailing Club Youth Outreach Program, Howard County 4H Club,  Leadership Howard County U, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, Bridges to Housing Stability, Community Action Council of Howard County, Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center, Habitat for Humanity, Maryland Food Bank, Our Daily Bread, Paul’s Place, Rebuilding Together – Howard County, Arc of Howard County, Historic Ellicott City, Howard County Library Enchanted Garden, Howard County Historic Society, Living Farm Heritage Museum, Senior Center of Ellicott City, Belmont Manor Tree Planting, distributed Christmas baskets, donated sight and sound equipment to the B&O Railroad Museum, sponsored step renovation at AME Methodist Church on Main Street.
